Kambo is very safe, but it should always be taken with a properly trained practitioner administering and supervising the treatments at all times. Certain health conditions prevent some people from taking Kambo, just like some situations require special precautions. Please read carefully the following lists to ensure you do not have any contraindications that would prevent you from safely taking Kambo. It is very important that you disclose your whole health history with your practitioner. If something is not clear or you don’t understand, please ask.
*Serious heart/cardiac conditions (including pacemaker, valve disease, bypass surgery and/or enlarged heart)
*Brain Hemorrhage
*Stroke
*Aneurysm
*Blood Clots (Thrombosis, Embolism)
*On medication for low blood pressure (this is extremely rare)
*Lack the mental capacity to make the decision to take Kambo
*Serious mental health problems-excluding Depression, Anxiety and PTSD
*Undergoing chemotherapy or radiotherapy for 4-6 weeks afterward
*Organ transplant surgery
*Taking immunosuppressants for an organ transplant
*Taking slimming or sleeping suppressants
*Pregnant or may possibly be
*Breastfeeding
*Addison’s Disease
*Crohn’s Disease
*Ehlers Danlos Syndromes (EDS)
*Epilepsy
*Recovering from a major surgical procedure less than 6 weeks
*Taking immunosuppressants for certain autoimmune diseases & disorders
*Active drug or alcohol addictions
*Oesophagus/Esophagus Rupture-Because Kambo can cause violent vomiting, we need to have some caution around certain conditions that could weaken the Oesophagus/Esophagus. These do not necessarily preclude you from experiencing Kambo, but it is highly advisable that you inform me if you have been affected with any of the following:
*Boerhaave’s Syndrome (spontaneous rupture of the oesophagus)
*Severe injury or trauma to the Oesophagus/Esophagus from endoscopy
*Severe injury, trauma, or surgery to the neck
*Throat Tumors or Ulcers
*Eating Disorders (Bulimia, Anorexia)
*Gastro-Intestinal Reflux
*Chronic Inflammatory Response Syndrome due to mold exposure
*Untreated Eosinophilic Esophagitis
*Oesophagus/Esophagus Varices
*Portal Hypertension
*Other than the required fasting, long term or water fasting should be avoided 7 days before or after receiving Kambo.
*Colonics, enemas, liver flushes or any water based detox should be avoided within 3 days before & after receiving Kambo.
*Please inform me if you are on your menses cycle. Women on their period are more comfortable if they avoid Kambo, but this doesn't preclude you from participating in ceremony. The Kambo medicine tends to rush upwards to the head (opposing the downward flow of the menses), which can often cause lightheaded-ness and sometimes even fainting. If you are menstruating at the time of treatment, Kambo may well cause the flow to increase for 24 hours because it contains powerful vasodilators.
*You must inform me if you have ever or are currently suffering from a mental health condition, regardless of whether or not you are taking medication. In most cases it is usually completely safe for you to continue taking your normal medication and supplements, but please discuss this beforehand.
*If you are Diabetic, it’s important to discuss your treatment in advance.
*If you are Asthmatic, ensure that you have your inhaler with you.
